Getting your child immunised is is vital in protecting them from serious diseases. The Cayman Islands Public Health Department has created an immunisation schedule for children, outlining all vaccines needed from birth all the way to 16 years of age, along with descriptions of what each vaccine is for. All vaccines are administered by injection, except for the rotavirus vaccine (given at 2 months of age and then again at 4 months), which is given orally.
It’s important to note that immunisation schedules vary between countries. If you’ve recently relocated to Cayman, your child may have a different immunisation history. You should consult the Public Health Department to compare your child’s past immunisations with Cayman’s recommended schedule to ensure no critical immunisations are missed.
By staying up to date with the immunisation schedule, you help protect not only your child but the wider community from disease outbreaks.
