Congratulations on your pregnancy! Welcome to the BUMP introduction of the Baby.ky website. This is a guide of what to expect at each stage during your pregnancy; both about how your body is changing and about the antenatal care you should receive.
This information covers what to expect from both routine care in a normal pregnancy in Grand Cayman and for the small number of pregnancies where complications arise. You’ll find information about the delivery in the BIRTH area of the website.
Much of the advice is based on what we would love our patients to know about pregnancy. How it progresses and how to deal with the changes happening to your body. This clinical advice is evidence based on guidelines, research and publications from both the UK Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the US American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. We have included more specific advice about pregnancy in Grand Cayman and some personal reflections based on decades of parent-years of experience.
We have considered answers to questions that expectant parents might have, as well as those that may not have been considered. We have divided the advice into manageable sections. It’s easy to navigate to find the answers to your questions. However, we recommend you browse all the articles.
Knowledge is everything. Having an understanding of the possible complications of pregnancy means you will be much less anxious. You’ll be more empowered if your pregnancy doesn’t follow a straightforward path. We hope that you will find this information helpful. You can always ask your obstetrician or midwife for further information. There is also the opportunity to link with people in a similar situation to you through the chat rooms.
